Oak Hill Music Festival Concert #2: Dumky Trio

Chamber works that break the mold! Dvorak’s Dumky Piano Trio, Coleman’s Afro-Cuban Concerto for wind quintet, and Loeffler’s Two Rhapsodies.

Concert 3 of Oak Hill Music Festival 2026

Dvořák “Dumky” Piano Trio

Oak Hill Music Festival presents a program of chamber works for strings and winds that all break the mold! Dvorak’s Piano Trio No. 4, subtitled “Dumky”, is composed as a series of Slavic ballads (dumky) rather than according to classical forms. Valerie Coleman’s Afro Cuban Concerto for wind quintet focuses on Afro-Cuban rhythms, the feel of Santeria worship, and the virtuosity of wind instruments. Loeffler’s Two Rhapsodies for the unique instrumentation of oboe, viola, and piano, composed in 1901, fuse medieval and folk influences with Brahms and French Impressionism.
